A night to Remember.....

Tall Women of Sydney taking their Confidence and Beauty out on the town! Saturday Evening - 1st May - 6.30pm - Sydney, Australia

Come into town for a great night out, meet other tall women, share stories, make new friendships, and celebrate our height...the tall ladies are making it a night in town!

I walked up the three stairs into the old colonial bank building where I was meeting the group, and I as bent forward to turn the door handle, the door automatically flung open and a tiny little Greek man, almost gnome looking, stood there, both arms wide open, with a massive grin and sparkle in his eye, look up and at the top of this voice said "Welcome, another Beautiful Tall Lady!" I smiled (how could I not?), and my new gnome friend escorted me to the table.

The invite had said "Tall Women of Sydney taking their Confidence and Beauty out on the town! Great night out, meet other tall women, share stories, make new friendships, and celebrate our height...the tall ladies are making it a night in town!" I decided it would be a good idea to meet other girl's who shared the same appearance, same challenges and frustration with sticking out and being Tall, it is indeed a rare occasion.

It was a really good night and I know all the ladies enjoyed themselves too. We were all very excited to meet new friends and share the common interest of our height; pants not long enough, tops too short, long sleeve was really three quarter sleeve, wearing unco clothes, shoes not big enough, heels too high, public amenities not tall enough, not enough leg room; all the guys were too short, not enough tall men in Sydney; not mention 'play spot the obvious game' do you play basketball? Do you know your tall? It was simply good just to chat and share our common experiences. A total of 10 girls showed up, and I one of the shorter one!

It was a fun evening at the Greek Restaurant - all the male waiters loved us and thought it was the funniest thing..."Tall Basketball Club" they were saying, and when one waiter took a photo with us, another waiter would run in and try to take one too. It was good fun, and a great experience to feel safe laughing and enjoying being tall - being the centre of attention!

All the people eating and enjoying their restaurant meal turned and looked to see what the commotion was all about when the waiters were enjoying our attention and humour....how could they not? 10 Tall Beautiful women, lining up next to each other, standing around, talking and laughing, and taking photos - being Confident and Proud to be Taller than the average. At one point, 5 of us girls were standing, almost huddled like in circle, in the middle of the restaurant simply enjoying speaking and acknowledging each other's same head level, one can imagined what the shorter population were thinking trying to eat their dinner! We didn't care, so engrossed in our new community, our new friendships, loving our Height!

After dinner, 6 of us Tall girls hit the bars of Sydney. Approaching one bar, and not realising they were closing, the bouncer with boggled eyes said, 'oh basketball team' and I said "No, we are all models!" he didn't know how to answer and one of the ladies reply 'oh were playing that game...spot the obvious?!' and I replied 'well, you have a mullet buddy!'...it was funny...all in good humour.

That moment of not knowing which bar to go to, was a thrilling feeling; simply standing and waiting in the street with other Tall Beautiful women. Normally I would have tried to hide, or stand on one foot slouching, whilst subconsciously regretting sticking out, BUT tonight I was a proud young women, wanting people to notice me and us - the Tall Beautiful ladies are out on the town!

That experience of standing on the corner street in Sydney, trying to find an open pub was the feeling of Community that I had been longing for a long time. The feeling were I am out in public, standing feeling safe and feeling GOOD about who I AM and HOW I look..Tall and Beautiful!

Us Tall chicks rock and we are HOT!
